Week 4: UCC, ISSI, Global Planning, Ziggurat, CAPS, Intervention Helper
This week we reviewed the UCC, ISSI, Ziggurat, CAPS.
These are all tools that we will use for our final project. I have found these tools really helpful in team planning and including the family in the process.
Basically the process is the following:
You make the analysis of the child’ s expression of autism in the UCC
You record the strengths of the child in the ISSI
You record what the goals are for this child in the Global Plan
You combine this information into the Ziggurat so that you can insure that you have all components of a child’s program thought through.
You schedule it through the CAPS.
This is if the child needs a specific plan as well as the global plan. In the example used Michael needed a different plan for PE because that was causing him the most trouble.
The two areas that most are having difficulty with are the Sensory Biological ( Think of this as to what are the basic needs of the child and have we either modified or accommodated for these)
Examples that might be there:
Natural Lighting ( child is sensitive to light)
Head phones ( Child is sensitive to noise)
Use of Sensory diet to keep regulated
Safe room for times overwhelmed
Access to OT equipment when stressed
Break before writing task
5 point check list for self-monitoring of stress
Reinforcement: ( Think of what is reinforcing for the child/adult)
Examples that might be there:
Use of My Little Ponies when teaching play
Token Economy ( child earns favorite thing, child might have the tokens representing what they most like)
Use of a rocking chair while reading (this might also be in the sensory area for those that need movement)
